NCC welcomes golf pro

The Newark Country Club has hired a new golf professionl. Tim Phelps began his new duties on April 1.

Tim PhelpsThe 34-year-old Cortland native recently worked at Chili Country Club as an assistant club professional. From 1989-995 he was an assistant pro at Bristol Harbour in Canandaigua. He also worked in Vail, Colorado as an assistant pro at Beaver Creek.

Tim and his wife, Dawn, have three children, Christian, Emily and Daniel.

The club is scheduling tournaments for the coming season. If anyone is interested in organizing a tournament contact the pro-shop at 331-2911 and ask for Tim Phelps. "I am looking forward to meeting the members at the club and working with our club restaurant manager, Mike Hydzik," said Phelps.

The first tournament - the Mudders tournament is slated for April 26. It's a three-person scramble for members only. The entry fee is $10 per person. A full schedule of tournaments will be published later.

The PGA will "cybercast' the Palm Beach Gardens event so you can keep up with all the latest.
