Miller completes hockey
season
Newark 5th
grader Ryan Miller recently completed his first year as a member
of the Canandaigua Knights Hockey Club. Ryan was one of 11
players, age 8 to 11, that were members on the Squirt
"B" team, sponsored by Snow Country. The team finished
with a record of 11 wins, one loss, and 4 ties that placed them
second in their regular season conference.
In the playoffs, Ryan's team won three games and the Eastern
Empire Conference Championship. It took a goal in a "sudden
death" overtime period for a team from Monroe County to
finally beat Ryan's team for the overall Empire Championship.
Teams from Batavia, Geneseo, Brockport, Monroe County, and
Perinton participate in the Empire League.
Ryan
was selected by his coaches as the best "two way"
player (offense and defense) on the team. He was second on the
team in assists with 10 and fourth in total points with 16. Ryan
is the son of Bob and Diane Miller, of Prospect Street in Newark.
