Hoffman receives NYSP promotion

The Superintendent of the New York State Police, James McMahon, has announced the promotion of Captain James Hoffman to the rank of Major in charge of Division Traffic services in Albany.

Hoffman, of Williamson, has been stationed in Troop E for 20 of his 24 years with the State Police. Most recently he was the Zone Commander in Henrietta. In his new position he will oversee all traffic services throughout the state.

Hoffman resides in Williamson with his wife and four children, but is considering locating to the Albany area. He is known for his technical ability and has written several promotional exams for lieutenant and sergeant. Hoffman will take his new post August 11.
