County adopts budget By Donna Comella No one spoke at a public hearing Wednesday night on the county's proposed $84.5 million budget. The spending plan was adopted unanimously by the Wayne County Board of Supervisors, with two supervisors absent - Art Ainsworth of Macedon and Carm Pascarella of Rose. Next year's tax rates will be down in all of the county's 15 towns and 10 villages. In Arcadia, it boils down to a decrease of almost a nickel per $1,000 of assessed value - from $7.75 to about $7.70 in the town outside the village, and from $8.10 to about $8.05 in the Village of Newark. Marion property owners will also realize a lower county tax bill, down from $7.76 to about $7.68. In Lyons, the rates drops about a dime - from $8.48 (outside) and $8.90 (village) to $8.38 and $8.80, respectively. For more budget details, click here. Copyright © 1997 |
