The Newark Reds Varsity Girls basketball team dropped its second game of the year, losing 51-43 to the Indians at Waterloo. Both clubs played close in the first period as Newark held a 14-10 lead. In the second quarter, the Reds offense literally disappeared as they were outscored 17-2 to trail 27-16 at halftime. Newark played well in the second half outscoring the Indians 27-24 in the third and fourth period. LaTanya Parker (pictured) led Newark with ten points. Colleen Johnson added nine points in the loss on three 3-point shots. Aurea Espada had eight points, including two 3-pointers. Copyright © 1997 |
