NHS Wrestler of the Week

The Newark Reds Varsity Teams first wrestler of the week for the 1997-98 season was awarded to Steve Hanks. The junior is one of the team's hardest workers. "He usually is the last to leave and is always lifting weights." said Coach Jack Fisher.

Hanks won five matches in the opening Avoca wrestling tournament in the first week of competition. One of Hanks goals is to achieve twenty wins this year. If accomplished, he could triple his win total from last year.

He is a well liked member of the squad and a three sport athlete as well as an outstanding student. Currently Steve is filling the 171 weight class for the Reds.

He is the son of Francis and Debbie Hanks. They reside in Fairville.
