Beta Theta auction The Beta Theta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma held its annual Silent Auction at the Wolcott Elks Lodge. The event benefits the the Mary Putnam Recruitment Grant and the Wayne County Victim Resource Center. DKG members donated a wide variety of items from their handiwork, hobbles, gardens, orchards, kitchens, as well as "White Elephants" and other contributions. Bids were received for each item and others were auctioned off. Proceeds from the general auction went towards Mary Putnam Recruitment Grant which is a scholarship given annually to area seniors who are entering the education field. In addition to the donated items for the general auction, some special "mystery" baskets adorned the tables and were then auctioned off, bringing generous sums. These funds were then donated to the Wayne County Victim Resource Center. The Beta Theta Chapter of DKG has been assisting this Center and supports the Center's mission that all persons have the right to live in a safe and violence free environment. That Center can be reached via the hotline (1-800-456-1172) or through the office (331-1171). Delta Kappa Gamma Society International is an honorary organization of women educators whose purpose is to promote professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education.
