The Marion Historic Association has won a grant from the Wayne Co. Antique Dealers Association. This grant will be used to repair and rebind three important historic research volumes the Marion Museum owns. The check was presented Dec. 7, during the Museum Marion Holiday open house.

Jessica, Keri and Barb Schoonerman surprised father/husband, Steve on his 40th birthday, December 6th with a party held at the home of Mark and Elaine Schoonerman of Palmyra. Approximately 40 people attended the party and a good time was had by all.

Happy Birthday Wishes to Eleanor Schoonerman on December 24, from her family.

Congratulations to Si and Charlotte VerPlank on the occasion of their 51st Wedding Anniversay on December 21, and to Bill and Evelyn VerPlank on their 56th Wedding Anniversary on December 27, 1997.

Leona Mason is presently residing at the DeMay Living Center in Newark.

Rev. Bill Hoffman has returned to his apartment following a stay at the hospital.

Hayden Chester, born on December 13, the son of Mark and Kelly Reynolds, received the Sacrament of Baptism at the United Church during the worship service on December 21.

December 22, 1927 - the members of the Marion Concert Band are planning a get-together supper and reception to be held some time during the Christmas season, at which time the various members in the Army School of Music in Washington, D.C., and other members in various schools will be home for vacation.

Stanley Phillips has returned home from the hospital following a fall at his home.

Ancient tidings told again, "Peace on earth, good will toward Men!" Precious now as they were then, this is Christmas! (Beth Edwards).

Fran De Wind from Marion and Bill Malone from Palmyra attended the Northeast Regional Leadership Meeting for Melaleuca Customers in Fairview, New Jersey. They joined Corporate Officials and Regional Leaders to learn about the upcoming year. Melaleuca is an innovative new shopping system that shares corporate profits with consumers.

Beautiful songs were played by the Bell Choir on Dec. 21 at the Second Reformed Church:

The following were participants in the Bell Choir: Brianna DeVries; Sarah and Lynette Mackey; Rachel & Nathan Boerman; Amy and Mackenzie Davis; Kathy Thomas; Danielle Nevlezer; Leah, Bonnie & Judy White; Kyle Haak, Beth Boerman and Cindy Welch.

Lynnette Mackey, Beth Boerman, and Judy White presented musical contribution during the Offertory titled, "Sleep, My Little Jesus."

The Marion wrestling team remained undefeated in league action by beating Bloomfield 36-25 at home Dec. 18. The team is 2-2 overall. Getting pins for Marion were Jamie Pentland & Mike Thorne. Remaining undefeated are Jake Miles & Dave Schneider. Also winning were Chad Taylor, Adam Offen and pulling out a clutch win to clinch the match Joe Alampi.

The boys varsity basketball team defeated Clyde-Savannah, Dec. 17, 77-62. Justin Hutt led the scoring with 25 points. Luke Lauffenburger had 15 points and Brian Roegers had 11.

The girls varsity basketball team lost to Wayne lst Thursday by the score of 57-47.

Happy 76th birthday to Howard Vice on December 21.

All residents of Drumlin Estates enjoyed their annual Christmas Party on December 17. They definitely need more space in the community room for their activities.
