County organizes for '97

No surprises at the 1997 organizational meeting for the Wayne County Board of Surpervisors - when the board met Friday:

• Wolcott Supervisor Marv Decker was again elected Chairman of the Board;
• County Administrator Dan Kane was again named Budget Officer;
• Helen Maddock was re-seated as Clerk of the Board, Deputy Budget Officer and Purchasing Agent
• Kay Groover retained her post as Deputy Clerk and Deputy Purchasing Agent;
• Sodus Supervisor Donna Chittenden was named Majority Leader by the GOP;
• and Galen Supervisor Louis DeLisio was designated as Minority Leader.
• Republicans named the following newspapers to publish these respective notices: Wayne County Mail/concurrent resolutions; Palmyra Courier-Journal/official canvass; Sodus Record/election notices.
• The Dems made the following designations: Newark Courier-Gazette/concurrent resolutions Williamson Sun/official canvass; Macedon Times/election notices.
• The board designated the Wayne County Star and the Williamson Sun as the county's official newspapers, where all local laws and notices will be published.

Supervisors retain the weighted vote that reflects his/her town's population. A simple majority stacks up as follows (votes requiring a 2/3 majority vary slightly, but both add up to 3,999):

• Butler - Dave Spickerman, 89 Galen
• Louis DeLisio, 206
• Huron - Allyn Guerin , 93
• Lyons-Jim Fabino, 287
• Macedon - Art Ainsworth 334
• Marion - Monica Deyo , 226
• Ontario - Roy Herrmann , 386
• Palmyra- Dave Lyon , 360
• Rose - Carmen Pascarella, 111
• Savannah- Don Colvin, 83
• Sodus - Donna Chittenden , 399
• Walworth - Peg Churchill , 316
• Williamson - Mary Ann Bliek, 298
• Wolcott - Marvin Decker, 201

Standing Committees remain the same as in 1996 (the first supervisor named heads the committee):

1. - Rules and Legislation Committee: Guerin, Spickerman, Deyo
2. - Supervisors, Personnel and Salary Committee: Healy, Churchill, DeLisio, Bliek, Herrmann
3. - Assessment and Insurance Committee: Ainsworth, Colvin, DeLisio, Chittenden, Fabino
4. - Judicial Committee: Deyo, Fabino, Chittenden, Lyon, Herrmann
5. - Buildings and Grounds Committee: Fabino, Healy, Bliek, Colvin, Spickerman
