Sodus Co-op news

Parents, teachers and board members are preparing for the Sodus Co-operative Nursery School's 38th year. The school, open to 3- and 4-year-olds, is located at the First Presbyterian Church in Sodus.

The school provides a supportive and enriching atmosphere in which children are encouraged to develop social skills, self confidence and a strong sense of accomplishment.

Back for a tenth year is teacher April Ikeler who holds a bachelor's degree in education. She enjoys making school a fun experience for her students and plans exciting "indoor field trips" each year, such as Movie and Pizza Night, Pajama Parties and a Winter Picnic. The students also have field trips to local areas of interest. In addition to teaching, Mrs. Ikeler is a wife, mom, volunteer firefighter with the Alton Fire Dept. and a member of its Ladies Auxiliary.

SCNS will have their own float in the Sodus Kiddie Parade on Aug. 6. All children registered for nursery school are encouraged to participate. Call Sue at (315) 483-2570 for more information. The school will also have a booth at the carnival grounds on Friday, August 8, with face painting and a bake sale. Parents and friends of the school willing to donate baked goods should contact Laurie at 483-2092.

The general meeting will be held Tuesday, August 19 at 7 p.m. All parents should attend this informative meeting; child care will be provided. Immunization records need to be turned in by that evening.

There are still a limited number of openings for the coming year. If you would like to receive information and an enrollment application, call Beth at 483-0410.
