Kathy and Bob Colarocco were both amazed at the turn-out and support when a benefit fundraiser was held Sunday afternoon and evening at Shooter's in Newark.

friends of the familySeveral friends of the family cooked outdoors on grills, selling food to hungry patrons, while inside, people listened to music by five bands and bought raffle tickets. The bands were The Works, Familiar Spirit, Mulch, Rock Slide and Blues Cruisers.

The raffle prizes and door prizes were numerous. Lance Gardner won a lacrosse stick and donated it to the Newark modifed lacrosse program. Gardner played lacrosse nine years ago at Newark High School.

John Paul Colarocco, 16, is receiving treatment and physical therapy at Strong Memorial Hospital, following a rollover truck accident in June.

His parents posed for this photo, with about a dozen of the folks at the bash. The event drew about 200 people of all ages.
