Lakers finish 3rd in softball tourney

Maria Nichols gets ready in the batter's box in the fastpitch softball tournament in Newark last weekend.

Twelve teams participated in the 6th annual tourney, which is sanctioned by the Jr. Olympic division of the Amateur Softball Association.

The Lakers finished
third overall, beating the North Syracuse Renegades 7-4 in the consolation final. The tournament was won by Amherst Lightning.
