The Wall setting up in Newark
Volunteers were busy setting up the panels of the black
memorial at Stuart Park, Route 88 south, Newark. Hammers,
wheelbarrows, plywood...Shirts were hung on shrubbery limbs as
the morning sun began to beat on the workers.
By 11:30 a.m., the panels were up, being squared, then
bordered with timbers and mulch. Flowers had been delivered and
sat under a shade tree waiting to be placed at the base of The
Wall.
Volunteers will remain at the site 24 hours a day, warmed a campfire for The Last Patrol. Closing Ceremonies will be held Thirsday, August 7 at 7 p.m.
