What a
weekend!
There were sales, shows, music and fun over the weekend, as
Newarkfest turned downtown into
showplace,
market, concert arena and food court.
Buyers browsed for books at the Newark Public Library's sale
on Saturday - great selection for
all the book
lovers.
Square dancers showed their stuff on Saturday afternoon. They
were followed by karate demonstrations, music by the Water Street
Boys, and
later
in the evening, by Ruby Shooz.
Sunday, people enjoyed the Car Show, and all weekend long,
Recreational Vehicles were on display in the Wal-Mart parking
lot.
Even the family pets were downtown to see all the goings-on.
St.
Michael's Parish Family Festival had rides, games, Las Vegas
Night, fried dough, sausages - always a fun time for all.
If you traveled north into Fairville, you may have caught one
of the midway rides, the big parade or Saturday night's
fireworks.
The
weather couldn't have been nicer for Sunday's festivities, which
included the Rose Day Parade, Civil War cannons, and music from
E.R.I.E.'s (newly-rebuilt) Peter Wiles floating stage. Pictured
here in T. Spencer Knight Park are essay winners from the 11th
grade class of Newark High School, Jill Starkenberg and Brendan
Morrisey. They are pictured holding rose
plants shipped
from Medford, Oregon, courtesy of Jackson & Perkins.
