Girl Scouts honor Crawford

Sherry Crawford of Newark has received the Honor Pin from the Seven Lakes Girl Scout Council. Crawford is the volunteer service unit manager in Newark and is a former troop leader.

Sherry CrawfordThe Girl Scout Honor Pin recognizes an adult member who has delivered outstanding service to two or more geographic areas. Crawford was the organizer of a Girl Scout leader's retreat in Newark, for about 80 leaders from Ontario and Wayne counties, and has assisted with the Girl Scouts' Be Your Best Day activities at the EastView Mall the last two years.

"She wants every girl to have the special memories she has of when she was young," said one friend. "The leader weekend would not have happened if Sherry had not been so persistent and devoted to the event. She truly deserves to be recognized for her hard work and devotion to Girl Scouts."

The Seven Lakes Girl Scout Council serves over 12,000 girls in 13 counties. The council's focus is to meet the special needs of girls from diverse racial, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds. The council values diversity as a vital resource in its membership, board of directors and staff.
