GOP sweeps Arcadia
The Grand Old Party had a grand old time Tuesday night,
as results swept in to the Newark Quality Inn (see district
results below).
Republican Dom Bartucca (pictured with Antoinette and GOP supporters) defeated Jack Dubler 2172-1204 for the post of Arcadia Town Supervisor. Bartucca had the Republican endorsement and also ran on the Conservative and Freedom-Arcadia First lines. Bartucca ran two years ago, trying to unseat Democrat Tom Healy. When Healy decided not to run this time, Democrats threw their support to political newcomer Dubler.
On the Town Council: Democrats also lost a seat on the Arcaadia Town Board - incumbent Bill Tanea lost to top vote-getters Mike Diamond (R), a newcomer with 2356 votes, and, incumbent Gary Grant (R) with 2062. Tanea pulled in 1464 votes.
Running unopposed were Republicans Art Williams for Town Justice (2472 votes) and Marsha Bowker (2588), Arcadia's Receiver of Taxes & Assessments.
Also unopposed: Sheriff Richard Pisciotti (2691) and County Clerk Linda Shaffer (2423).
Elected Justice of the Supreme Court in the 7th Judicial District is Republican Nancy E. Smith (2094 votes). Democrat Melcher E. Castro had 612 votes.
