Marion Girl Scout News
Marion's Service Unit has added over 50 new Girl Scouts. So many girls wanted to join, that the Unit had to start four new Troops!
Now they need parent/adult volunteers for some of the troops. Each troop needs at least two adults, but all parents are expected to help in troop management. All of the adults involved in Girl Scouts in Marion are volunteers. You do not need to have a child in Girl Scouts to be involved.
If you ordered cookies but have not yet received them, you should be getting them soon. If you need more cookies, they can still be purchased through one of the troops. There will also be several booth sales at Newark Wal*Mart and Bells markets in Williamson and Palmyra.
Brownie Troop 180 set goals for their cookie sale, had a parents meeting and a Halloween costume party. They are planning a field trip to Cummings Nature Center in Naples to work on the Outdoor Fun Try It. They attended the Fall Fun event at Yaiewano on Oct. 25.
Brownie Troop 416 prepared for cookie sales by setting goals, practicing role playing and discussing safety rules for selling cookies. They planned holiday events.
Junior Troop 404 set goals for cookie sales and discussed the dangers of smoking and secondhand smoke. The girls have gotten some of this information through the DARE program at school. They are learning age appropriate First Aid, especially for situations involving small children as many of the girls babysit.
Cadette Troop 2012 had a Halloween party, is learning about Silver Award and is going to Eastview Mall for a scavenger hunt.
